Texas Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a progressive known for her fiery rhetoric and newly announced U.S. Senate run, has an unpaid lien of more than $3,000 on her Dallas luxury condo that has remained unresolved for over a year. A notice filed on April 11, 2024, shows that Crockett owes the Westside Condominium Association $3,047.79 for unpaid assessments, according to Dallas County records reviewed by Fox News Digital. The lien states she is in default and has repeatedly failed to pay the required fees, giving the association a legal claim on the property until the debt is cleared. The Dallas County Clerk’s Office confirmed that no release has been filed, indicating the amount is still outstanding.
Crockett purchased the condo in 2014, and records show she is registered to vote at that address. The Westside complex advertises itself as a gated community with upscale amenities, including a pool, clubhouse, and spa-style interiors, with HOA fees between $222 and $403. The revelation of Crockett’s unpaid dues adds to rising concerns among Democrats about her viability as a Senate candidate. One Democratic strategist bluntly called her “the worst possible candidate,” arguing recent controversies show she is not prepared for a statewide campaign.
Scrutiny intensified after Crockett’s Federal Election Commission filings revealed nearly $75,000 spent this year on luxury hotels, transportation, and security in cities far from her Dallas-based district. Her campaign disbursed over $25,000 on high-end lodging and limo services and nearly $50,000 on security, despite her past support for the “Defund the Police” movement. The expenses included stays at the Ritz-Carlton, West Hollywood Edition, Times Square Edition, and resorts in Las Vegas and Martha’s Vineyard.
Crockett has faced additional criticism for personal attacks, including calling Texas Gov. Greg Abbott “Governor Hot Wheels,” a remark widely condemned due to Abbott’s use of a wheelchair. These controversies have fueled doubts about her Senate bid as she heads into a closely watched race.
